PostgreSQL 14 reaches end-of-life on November 12, 2026

  • Deadline
  • Action required
  • High importance

The PostgreSQL Global Development Group has confirmed that PostgreSQL 14 reaches its end-of-life on November 12, 2026, ending all security and bug-fix support for that branch. The recently shipped PostgreSQL 18.4 / 17.10 / 16.14 / 15.18 / 14.23 release cycle explicitly highlighted this approaching cutoff in its release notes, signalling that 14.23 may be among the final patch releases for the branch. Teams still running PostgreSQL 14 in production have approximately six months to plan and execute a major-version upgrade. PostgreSQL major version upgrades require use of pg_upgrade or logical replication for minimal-downtime migrations, and extension compatibility should be validated against the target version. PostgreSQL 17 (supported until November 2029) or the upcoming PostgreSQL 18 GA are the recommended upgrade targets.
