GitHub lets maintainers count draft PRs toward their limits

  • Shipped

GitHub's per-user pull-request limit used to wave drafts through, which meant a contributor — or an automated agent — could open as many draft PRs as it liked even under a cap. As of this changelog, maintainers can opt in to counting drafts toward that limit. It's off by default and aimed squarely at the repo spam that's grown alongside agentic tooling. If you run a busy public repo and already cap PRs from non-write users, this is the setting that finally closes the gap.
