Android CLI can now stream a real phone to your agent

  • Shipped

Google's command-line tool for Android can now hand a real phone to an agent. The October 2 update wires Android Device Streaming into the CLI, so an agent can spin up a physical device in the cloud, deploy a build, collect logs and traces, and capture screenshots — all headless, with no IDE in the loop. The same post ships a batch of new skills: CameraX, migrating Leanback to Compose for TV, Media3 Cast integration, the Play Engage SDK, and a Wear Compose Material 3 skill for watch work. The CLI itself went stable back in May; this is the piece that was missing. An agent could already write and build Android code, but it couldn't watch the result run on hardware. Now it can. If you've been pointing a coding agent at an Android project, this closes the gap between "it compiles" and "it works on a device."
