View Transitions land in stable React with 19.3.0

  • Shipped
  • High importance

The animation story finally moves. React 19.3.0, out Tuesday, ships a stable `<ViewTransition />` component plus an `addTransitionType` API, so cross-component and route-level transitions no longer need the experimental channel. Transitions now render independently too — a slow one won't block an unrelated one from committing, which was a real papercut in the experimental builds. Two more additions matter for library authors. Fragment refs let you attach a ref straight to `<Fragment />`, making it easier to wrap platform behavior without an extra DOM node, and a new `browser()` API in react-dom marks a subtree as browser-only without throwing the usual recoverable-error noise during server rendering. The release also wires in the Trusted Types API and warns on conditional `use()` calls in dev. Additive across the board — no breaking changes to plan around.
