Jamf's Beacon brings dedicated threat hunting to enterprise Macs

  • Shipped

Beacon by Jamf Threat Labs is now generally available — a premium, human-run threat hunting service built specifically for macOS, with dedicated Apple-platform hunters working off the company's own device telemetry. It ships as an add-on for Jamf for Mac customers, aimed at teams that have outgrown alerts and want someone actively looking for the quiet stuff. The vendor paired it with AI Governance, a native control plane that discovers which AI tools are actually running on a Mac — Claude Code, Claude Desktop, and OpenAI Codex among them — and lets IT enforce policy and pull audit-ready reports. That second piece is the more novel of the two: OS-level visibility into developer AI tooling is exactly the gap most endpoint suites have been hand-waving past.
