Google Adds Managed Agents Feature to Gemini API for Simplified Agent Deployment

  • Announced

Announced alongside Antigravity 2.0 at Google I/O 2026, Managed Agents is a new capability surfaced through the Gemini API that handles the underlying infrastructure provisioning required to run AI agents at scale. Rather than requiring teams to wire together compute, routing, and state management independently, the feature abstracts those concerns behind a managed layer while still allowing customization through the Antigravity SDK. For teams without dedicated infrastructure engineers, Managed Agents lowers the barrier to shipping reliable agent-based features. The feature complements the self-hosted SDK path: small teams or rapid prototypes can lean on the managed layer, while enterprise deployments with stricter requirements can migrate to the Antigravity SDK without rewriting agent logic.
