Figma Launches Official MCP Server for Bidirectional Code-Design Workflows

  • Shipped

Figma's new MCP server, available at a remote endpoint (https://mcp.figma.com/mcp) and as a Desktop MCP option, exposes agent skills including /prototype-to-figma, /figma-generate-design, /figma-generate-library, and /figma-use. The server supports three primary workflows: Code to Canvas (generating designs from existing code), Design System Sync (keeping component libraries consistent across code and design), and Canvas Exploration (agents navigating and querying the design canvas for context). This is a meaningful step for agentic development workflows, allowing coding agents to directly read and write design artifacts without human intermediation. Teams using AI coding assistants can now close the loop between their codebase and design tooling, and design-to-code generation becomes a first-class agent operation. The official T1 source and remote MCP hosting signal this is a production-ready, supported integration rather than a community experiment.
