Figma Adds AI Agent Co-Design and FigJam MCP Skills

  • High importance

Figma's May 5 release introduces co-design with AI agents, enabling coding agents to create and iterate on prototypes through a new MCP tool integration. FigJam gains two MCP skills: one for reading and writing to FigJam boards, and a generate-project-plan skill that converts codebases or documentation into visual project boards with ERDs and architecture diagrams. This marks a meaningful shift in how design tooling integrates with AI-driven development workflows. Teams using agent-based coding tools can now push visual artifacts into Figma and FigJam without leaving the coding environment, reducing context-switching and keeping design artifacts closer to the code that generates them. The MCP surface also opens a programmable path for CI pipelines or custom agents to update design boards as part of automated workflows.
