The M8in and M8ib instances are built on custom 6th-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors paired with 6th-generation AWS Nitro cards, delivering up to 43% higher performance than their M6in and M6ib predecessors. The instances are designed for sustained network-intensive workloads and can serve as hosts for large commercial databases requiring high network throughput. Teams running latency-sensitive, packet-heavy workloads or operating large relational databases on EC2 should evaluate migration paths from M6in/M6ib. The GA designation means instance types are now available across supported regions without waitlists, making it practical to begin capacity planning and benchmark runs against production traffic profiles.
