As of May 1 2026, upstream fix commit a664bf3d603d landed in mainline and patched kernels are available in production repositories for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Amazon Linux 2023, RHEL 10.1, SUSE 16, Debian, Fedora, AlmaLinux 8/9/10, and Arch Linux. KernelCare is simultaneously rolling out live-patching across all supported distributions for teams that cannot tolerate a reboot window. The prior status of this flaw was 'no distro patches yet', which meant teams could only rely on mitigations. That status has now changed entirely: patches are generally available, making prompt kernel upgrades the required response. Any system running an unpatched kernel remains exposed to local privilege escalation, which in containerised or multi-tenant environments can translate to broader lateral movement risk.
